The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
