The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And no trifle. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
