Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
