Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a high Garden. 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
