Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
