Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
