Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
