a large throng from the ancients, 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 neither cool nor good. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 And they persisted in the great violation. 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 And filling with it your bellies 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Behold! that which ye emit. 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 You have known the first creation, then why do you not reflect? 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 We could make it brackish, if We pleased; so why do you not acknowledge thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74
