Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
