Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
