Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged 15 and well spread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
