Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
