Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
