Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
