Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
