The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
