Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
