Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
