Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
