Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the dawn, 1 By the Nights twice five; 2 And by the even and the odd, 3 And by the night when it departs. 4 Truly in that there is an oath for those who possess understanding. 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 (And) the tall giants of Iram? 7 whose like has never been created in any other land. 8 and Thamood, who hollowed the rocks in the valley, 9 and with Pharaoh of the stakes? 10 [All of] whom oppressed within the lands 11 So they made great mischief therein? 12 Then their Lord unloosed upon them the lash of chastisement. 13 for, verily, thy Sustainer is ever on the watch! 14 As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me. 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 (Since wealth does not necessarily guarantee everlasting happiness) then why do you not show kindness to the orphans, 17 or urge one another to feed the destitute? 18 And ye devour inheritance - all with greed, 19 And love wealth with abounding love. 20 Nay, but [how will you fare on Judgment Day,] when the earth is crushed with crushing upon crushing, 21 And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. 22 and when Hell is brought near that Day. On that Day will man understand, but of what avail will that understanding be? 23 He will say: “Would that I had sent ahead what would be of avail for this life of mine!” 24 On that Day no one will punish as He punishes, 25 and none can bind with bonds like His. 26 O satisfied soul, 27 return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 And enter thou My Garden. 30
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
