Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the dawn 1 and ten nights, 2 And by the even and the odd, 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 There surely is an oath for thinking man. 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 [the people of] Iram the many-pillared, 7 whose like has never been created in any other land. 8 And how did He deal with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the valley? 9 And Pharaoh, of the pegs (impaling his victims)? 10 Who all waxed exorbitant in the cities, 11 spreading in them much corruption? 12 Then their Lord unloosed upon them the lash of chastisement. 13 Truly your Lord is ever watchful. 14 As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and gifts, then he says (puffed up): "My Lord has honoured me." 15 But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!" 16 Not at all but rather you do not honour the orphan. 17 Nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 and you devour the inheritance greedily, 19 and why do you have an excessive love of riches? 20 When the earth is crushed into small pieces 21 And your Lord comes with the angels in rows, 22 And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him? 23 He will say: Ah, would that I had sent before me (some provision) for my life! 24 So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. 25 And no one binds like He does! 26 O the contented soul! 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 and enter My Paradise.” 30
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
