There is a sign in the dead earth for them which We quicken, and produce from it grain which they eat. 33 And We have made therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein. 34 That they may enjoy the fruits of this (artistry): It was not their hands that made this: will they not then give thanks? 35 Hallowed be He who hath created all the pairs of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves and of that which they know not! 36 And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness. 37 And [they have a sign in] the sun: it runs in an orbit of its own [and] that is laid down by the will of the Almighty, the All-Knowing; 38 And the moon -- We have determined it by stations, till it returns like an aged palm-bough. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 and [that] We create for them things of a similar kind, on which they may embark [in their travels]; 42 And if We please, We can drown them, then there shall be no succorer for them, nor shall they be rescued 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 Whenever they are told to guard themselves against sin and the forth coming torment so that perhaps they could receive mercy 45 yet never any sign of the signs of their Lord comes to them, but they are turning away from it. 46 And when it is said to them, 'Expend of that God has provided you,' the unbelievers say to the believers, 'What, shall we feed such a one whom, if God willed, He would feed? You are only in manifest error!' 47 And they say: When will this threat come to pass, if you are truthful? 48 They await but one Shout, which will seize them while they dispute. 49 and so [sudden will be their end that] no testament will they be able to make, - nor to their own people will they return! 50
