Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the dawn; 1 And the Ten Nights, 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 and by the night when it departs. 4 Is there not an evidence in this for those who have sense? 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 Iram of the pillars, 7 The like of whom were never created in the realm; 8 And (with) Samood, who hewed out the rocks in the valley, 9 And the mighty Pharaoh 10 Who terrorised the region, 11 And made therein much mischief. 12 So your Lord poured a scourge of punishment over them. 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me." 15 but when He tests him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Lord has disgraced me." 16 But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, 17 Nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 Why do you take away the inheritance of others indiscriminately 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, 21 And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. 22 And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him? 23 He shall say, 'O would that I had forwarded for my life!' 24 But on that day shall no one chastise with (anything like) His chastisement, 25 And no one binds like He does! 26 (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! 27 Return unto thine Lord well pleased and well-pleasing. 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 "And enter you My Paradise!" 30
