Al-Balad

The Town (Al-Balad)

20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

۞ Nay, I swear by this city - 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 that We have created man into a life of toil and trial. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 and shown him the two highways [of good and evil]? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 How will you comprehend what the Steep ascent is? -- 12 To free a neck (from the burden of debt or slavery), 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 Or to the indigent (down) in the dust. 16 Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 Over them will be fire closed in. 20

Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
