Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 and [I call to witness] parent and offspring: 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Does he think that none has power over him! 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 So he did not quickly enter the steep valley. 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 (It is) the setting free of a slave, 13 or the feeding, upon a day of [one's own] hunger, 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 Then he became of those who believed and enjoined on each other steadfastness and enjoined on each other compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 The Fire will be shut over them (i.e. they will be enveloped by the Fire without any opening or window or outlet. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
