The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 which hurled people around like uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
