Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
