Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 and the moon as it reflects the sun! 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be, 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they rejected his statement as a lie and hamstrung the she-camel. For that crime their Lord rumbled down upon them, utterly razing them to the ground. 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
