Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 He verily will be content. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
