So We saved the children of Israel from degrading suffering 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And We vouchsafed unto them signs wherein was a manifest favour. 33 Verily these! they say: 34 “This is our first and only death, and we shall never be raised again. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We did not create them except in truth, but most of them do not know. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Apart from those to whom God is kind. He is all-mighty and all-merciful. 42
