The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
