The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
