The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
