The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
