And when thou settedst forth at daybreak from thy housefolk to assign to the believers their positions for the battle, Allah was Hearer, Knower. 121 Two groups among you almost lost courage despite having God as their Guardian. The believers should always have trust in God. 122 God had already helped you at Badr, when you were weak. Fear God, so that you may be grateful. 123 When thou didst say unto the believers: Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should support you with three thousand angels sent down (to your help)? 124 Yes, if you remain patient and conscious of Allah and the enemy come upon you [attacking] in rage, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels having marks [of distinction] 125 And God did not do so but as good tidings for you, and to reassure your hearts for victory comes from God alone, the all-mighty and all-wise -- 126 In order that He may cut off a part of unbelievers or overthrow them, and they turn back in frustration. 127 You have no say in the matter if He pardon them or punish them, for they are unjust. 128 And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 129
