The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
