The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 What is your opinion regarding him who forbids 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
