The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
