The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
