The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
