The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
