Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Woe to every scorner and mocker 1 who collects and hordes wealth, 2 He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal. 3 No indeed; he shall be thrust into the Crusher; 4 What shall let you know what the Crusher is? 5 The Fire of God kindled 6 Which leaps up over the hearts, 7 Verily it shall close upon them, 8 In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.). 9

God the Almighty always says the truth.
