A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem, Sad. 1 A book has been revealed to you, (Muhammad). You should not hesitate to convey its warning and its good advice to the believers. 2 Follow that which is sent down to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians other than Him; little do you remember. 3 How many a township have We destroyed! As a raid by night, or while they slept at noon, Our terror came unto them. 4 And when Our punishment came upon them, they had nothing to say for themselves, and could only cry, "Verily, we were wrongdoers!" 5 We will question those to whom Our Message was sent, as We shall question the Messengers. 6 Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent. 7 The weighing that day is true; he whose scales are heavy -- they are the prosperers, 8 And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light those are they who have made their souls suffer loss because they disbelieved in Our communications. 9 It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfilment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give! 10
