A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 A Book revealed unto thee,- So let thy heart be oppressed no more by any difficulty on that account,- that with it thou mightest warn (the erring) and teach the Believers). 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 And a great number of towns (their population) We destroyed (for their crimes). Our torment came upon them (suddenly) by night or while they were sleeping for their afternoon rest. 4 And when Our scourge fell upon them their only cry was: 'We are indeed transgressors.' 5 Then surely, We shall question those (people) to whom it (the Book) was sent and verily, We shall question the Messengers. 6 and We shall relate to them with knowledge; assuredly We were not absent. 7 On that Day, the weighing is true. He whose scales are heavy those are the prosperers, 8 and those whose scales are light will be the losers, for they, are the ones who have been unjust to Our signs. 9 We established you in the earth and made for you a livelihood but little is it that you give thanks. 10
