The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And the breath of morning 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
