And to Samood (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than Him; clear proof indeed has come to you from your Lord; this is (as) Allah's she-camel for you-- a sign, therefore leave her alone to pasture on Allah's earth, and do not touch her with any harm, otherwise painful chastisement will overtake you. 73 Remember when He made you successors to the 'Ad and settled you in the land. You built palaces on its plains and carved houses out of the mountains. Remember God's blessings and do not spread corruption in the land," 74 The leaders of the arrogant party among his people said to those who were reckoned powerless - those among them who believed: "know ye indeed that Salih is a messenger from his Lord?" They said: "We do indeed believe in the revelation which hath been sent through him." 75 The haughty ones remarked. 'Most certainly we disbelieve in that which you believe.' 76 Then they hamstrung the she-camel and rebelled against the command of their Lord, and said: "Bring, O Saleh, on us the affliction you promise, if you are one of the sent ones." 77 Thereupon a shocking catastrophe seized them, so that they lay prostrate in their dwellings. 78 Then he turned from them, and said: O my people! Assuredly I delivered unto you the messages of my Lord, and counselled you good, but ye approve not the good counsellors. 79 And [We had sent] Lot when he said to his people, "Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds? 80 See, you approach men lustfully instead of women; no, you are a people that do exceed.' 81 And his people had no answer except to say, “Turn them out of your dwellings; these are people who wish purity!” 82 Then We delivered him and his household, save his wife: she was among the lingerers. 83 and We rained down upon them a rain. So look how was the end of the evildoers. 84
