Said the chieftains of Firaun’s people, “He is really an expert magician.” 109 Who would expel you from your land. Now what do ye advise? 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant." 113 He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)." 114 They said: O Musa! either thou cast down, or we shall be the ones to cast down. 115 He said: cast ye. Then when they cast down, they enchanted the eyes of the people, and terrified them and brought mighty magic to bear. 116 We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "Throw (now) thy rod": and behold! it swallows up straight away all the falsehoods which they fake! 117 ۞ whereupon the truth was established, and vain was proved all that they had been doing. 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 And the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said: 'What! Do you believe before you have my permission? Surely this is a plot you have contrived to drive out the rulers from the capital. So you shall see, 123 "I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified." 124 They replied, "We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
