Al-A 'araaf 14 of 24
The chiefs of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer; 109 “He wishes to expel you all from your kingdom; so what do you advise?” 110 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send unto all cities heralds 111 who shall bring before thee every sorcerer of great knowledge." 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and said: 'Shall we have a reward if we win?' 113 He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)." 114 They said: "O Moses! wilt thou throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 He answered: "You throw [first]." And when they threw down [their staffs,] they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and struck them with awe, and produced mighty sorcery. 116 Then We revealed to Moses: 'Now, throw down your staff' And thereupon it swallowed up their false invention. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 They were therefore defeated here and they turned back humiliated. 119 But the sorcerers fell down prostrate in adoration. 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Said Firaun, “You have accepted faith in Him before I gave you permission! This is indeed a grand conspiracy you have plotted in the city, in order to expel its people from it; so now you will come to know!” 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They said: "For us, We are but sent back unto our Lord: 125 "But thou dost wreak thy vengeance on us simply because we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)! 126

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
