Now when they came into Joseph's presence, he received his (full) brother to stay with him. He said (to him): "Behold! I am thy (own) brother; so grieve not at aught of their doings." 69 And when he provided them with their provision, he put the drinking-cup in his brother's saddlebag, and then a crier cried: O camel-riders! Lo! ye are surely thieves! 70 They said while approaching them, "What is it you are missing?" 71 "We cannot find the master's goblet. Whoever comes up with it will be given a camel-load of grain; I vouch for it." 72 They said: "By Allah, you certainly know that we did not come to act corruptly in this land, nor are we those who steal." 73 They said: 'What shall be the recompense, if you prove to be lying' 74 "The punishment for that (should be)," they said, "that he in whose luggage it is found should be held as punishment. This is how we repay the wrong-doers." 75 He [the herald] searched their bags before his brother's and then took out the cup from his brother's bag. In this way, We devised a plan on behalf of Joseph. He could not have detained his brother under the King's law, unless God so willed. We exalt whoever We please: but above those who have knowledge there is One all knowing. 76 ۞ They said, “If he steals, then indeed his brother has stolen before”; so Yusuf kept this in his heart and did not reveal it to them; he replied within himself, “In fact, you are in a worse position; and Allah well knows the matters you fabricate.” 77 They said, "O exalted one, he has a very aged father, take one of us in his place. We can see that you are a very good man." 78 He said: Allah protect us that we should seize other than him with whom we found our property, for then most surely we would be unjust. 79
