The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation,- of a Qur'an that makes things clear. 1 It could be that those who disbelieve will wish that they were Muslims. 2 Leave them thou to eat and to enjoy, and let vain hope divert them; presently they will know. 3 We have never destroyed a township without a definite decree having been issued; 4 No people can hasten or delay the term already fixed for them. 5 And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW) to whom the Dhikr (the Quran) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. 6 If you are a man of truth, why can't you bring the angels to us?" 7 We do not send down angels except for a genuine purpose, at which time none will be given any further respite. 8 Lo! We, even We, reveal the Reminder, and lo! We verily are its Guardian. 9 We sent messengers before you to the previous peoples, 10 and never yet came an apostle to them without their deriding him. 11 Thus do We make it to enter into the hearts of the guilty; 12 They do not believe in it even though the practice of the ancients has already gone. 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 they would have said, "Our eyes are bewildered and we have been affected by magic." 15
